The Company

The modern US Air Force started life as part of the United States Army Signal Corps in 1907. During the interwar period, it became the US Army Air Corp. Shortly before World War II, the name was changed to the US Army Air Force. Finally, in 1947 with the passing of the National Security Act of 1947, the US Air Force became a separate branch of the US Armed Forces. It is the second-youngest branch after Space Force.
