This is an interesting one, so I’m going to write this up a little bit differently. I was hunting through my archive of computer ads, when I came across this ad from an Australian computer magazine. It caught my eye because it was trying very hard to sell a simple printer stand.
So, I looked it up opencorporates and only found two entries for company name, both from my home state of Michigan. Both companies had different names, but had used the Lintek Computer Accessories name.
I decided to go directly to the source of information and visited the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) website to do a search. Once again, I found information for two companies.
Here is the break-down on the two companies according to the paperwork that they filed:
GBPX, INC.
Incorporated on 8-24-87 as Warcross III, INC.
Name changed on 7-26-88 to Lintek Computer Accessories
Name changed on 4-21-99 to GBPX, INC.
ASPEN LINTEK, INC.
Incorporated on 3-31-97 as Aspen Logistics
Filed paperwork to assume the name Lintek Computer Accessories on 4-21-99 for business purposes
Filed paperwork to assume the name Aspen Lintek on 5-6-99 for business purposes
Filed paperwork to assume the name Aspen Logistics on 5-10-99 for business purposes
Company was dissolved on 12-8-2000
I’ve never seen a company (I’m sure there is only one) with so many names. I wonder what the rationale was behind it.
Besides the Paper Tamer, I found proof of LCA making at least two other accessories: a monitor stand called the Monitor Mover and a bracket to mount a PC tower under a desk named the System Dropkick.
Anyway, I searched the Internet Archive and I found quite a few listings for LCA in old computer magazines. Most were from the US (Byte, Popular Computing, Softalk and a few others), but a couple were from Australia. Apparently, a small company from the American Midwest made computer accessories and had a satellite office in Australia, of all places.
This company is an example of why I like writing about these companies. There have been so many PC related companies that have come and gone, often without anyone noticing them. I enjoy finding out about them and bringing at least some light to their story.

I'd imagine that paper organizer to wobble quite a bit beneath a fast and heavy printer...we had a printer desk with steel frame and even that moved quite a bit.
