Recently, I was scouring the internet for interesting computer ads, when I stumble upon a site with computer ads from India. I decided to cover one today.
Unfortunately, I can’t find out much about ORG Systems. According to one source, the company was founded in 1960. It was found by Vikram Sarabai “to expedite a scientific approach to collect and scrutinize information for supporting and optimizing business operations”. Interestingly, Vikram Sarabai is considered the father of the Indian Space Program. He also helped bring nuclear power to India.
ORG Systems created one of the first indigenous Indian computers, the ORG 2001. In 1986, ORG Systems made an agreement with the Dutch company Dansk Data Elektronik A/S to sell their version of Unix. Eight years later, the two companies combined to form DDE ORG System Ltd.
According to the ad above, ORG Systems was a division of Ambalal Sarabhai Enterprises Limited. Interestingly, that company still exists. The company started out as a textile manufacturer and over time transitioned into pharmaceuticals. In the 1980s, the company ran into financial issues and had to be restructured into the company that exists today.
The only information that I have for the ORG Systems' Multilingual Word Processor is the blurb in the ad above. The text is hard to read, so I transcribed it for clarity. (I copied the punctuation as best I could.)
For long, the benefits of a word processor have been limited only to those companies with English as the medium of communication.
But not any more. We at ORG Systems have filled your long-felt need with a Multilingual Word Processor. For the first time in India.
This unique product doubles up as an English Word Processor, if need be. And it even allows intermixing of English and Indian scripts!
Besides, it enables your typist to function at twice the speed. Because corrections can be carried out without retyping. While a 'Find & Replace' facility makes it possible to incorporate changes in a jiffy.
Data can be recalled with our unique storage facility, eliminating the need to store information in voluminous files. Copies, as many as required can be got by typing just once!
And last but not the least, your correspondence will look neat and stylish with the formatting and highlighting facilities.
This unique word processor can be used with any IBM-compatible PC. And it has all the popular WORDSTAR-2000 facilities.
What's more, your typist can start using this word processor right away, as the keyboard is arranged just like any typewriter!
Since you stand to gain so much, shouldn't you make the Multilingual Word Processor a part of your office today?
ORG Systems' Multilingual Word Processor. It's Indispensable. Ask your typist!
I was unable to find any reviews of the application from the time period. If you find any more information, please comment below.

It might be interesting to see ads for well-known computer products from other countries. For example, how a Mac was sold to Japanese users.
