The Company

VTech was founded in October 1976 by Allan Wong and Stephen Leung. The two were inspired by the release of Intel’s 4004 microprocessor. They raised $40,000 and opened a small factory in the To Kwa Wan area of Hong Kong. The following year, they released a version of the Pong video game. They marketed it to the UK because Hong Kong and the UK used similar TV technology.
